4 Positive Eating Habits to Kick Off National Nutrition Month®

March is National Nutrition Month® and this year’s theme is “Eat Right, Bite By Bite.” Eating a healthy diet does not have to be restrictive or limiting. The message that all foods can fit into a healthy way of eating is sometimes lost in the latest and greatest diets that we see all over the media. Positive changes to your lifestyle and eating habits count and every little bit (or small bite) moves you in the direction of good health.

To “Eat Right, Bite By Bite” try to:

Have a variety of healthy foods in your diet

When you eat a variety of nutritious foods, you are more likely to meet all of your body’s needs for vitamins and minerals, and you can enjoy many different types of foods and flavors.

Plan more of your meals ahead of time

Planning meals ahead can save you time and money. Most of all, it helps to ensure you will make healthier choices because you won’t just grab and eat the first convenient thing you see in your kitchen or at the drive-thru!

Cook and prep more meals at home

You can save money when cooking and prepping more meals at home, since eating out is expensive. In addition, you can control exactly what goes into the foods you eat when you are in charge of the prep and cooking.

Eat more plant-based foods

Eating more plant-based foods can save you money since animal proteins tend to be expensive. Plant-based foods are beneficial to your heart and may help to prevent diabetes, certain cancers, and other chronic inflammatory-related diseases.
