The Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) has been notified of a possible scam circulating regarding an alleged relief package from President Biden that would require Medicaid members to close their Medicaid cases to qualify for the relief package. Reports state that the scammers have placed ads online that include a phone number asking members to call so they can receive “emergency money” of $5,200 if they are less than 65 years old and do not receive Medicaid benefits.

Please be advised if you are a Medicaid recipient, you may be contacted by scammers or may have seen the ad. There is NO relief package being offered by President Biden, the federal government, VDSS or any other state agency, and DO NOT give out any personal information, including social security number, bank information, etc., if requested by these scammers.
