Who can use I-RIDE?
Anyone age 60 and over in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Franklin, Isle of Wight County, and Southampton County.

How much does I-RIDE cost?
The service is FREE. It is provided by Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia from the support received by funders and partners. Note for Adult Daycare rides, there is a required fee of $4 based on household income.

Donations, either cash or check, are gratefully accepted and help us serve more people. You may also donate to the cost of your ride on our website: www.ssseva.org/donate.

Where does I-RIDE go?
I-RIDE can take you to the doctor’s office, the store, a friend’s house, or a restaurant—almost anywhere you need to go. We only ask that your destination be within about thirty minutes of your home. Exceptions are taken into consideration based on the area and travel distances.

We serve the cities of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, and Franklin as well as the counties of Isle of Wight County and Southampton County.

How do I book a ride on I-RIDE?
I-RIDE offers an app for your phone or tablet that allows you to book a ride, make changes to your ride, and track the location of your ride. To get the app, go the app store on your device and search for “Senior Services I-RIDE.” Download the app and follow the instructions to get started.

What are the hours of I-RIDE?

I-RIDE operates between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

What if I’m disabled?
Our vehicles are equipped with wheelchair lifts for those in wheelchairs or walkers. Our drivers will assist you in getting from your door to the vehicle and safely to your destination.

How far ahead do I have to book my ride?
We encourage you to book two weeks in advance, but we can accommodate same-day or next-day requests based on schedule availability. Check the app or call our dispatcher team for current availability.

What happens if I’m late for my ride?
Our drivers will call you when they arrive. If they are unable to reach you, they will wait five minutes before moving on to the next stop.

Can I cancel or reschedule my ride?
You can cancel or reschedule your ride on the app, with our dispatchers, or when you receive your reminder phone calls before your ride.

Can I bring someone with me?
Caregivers ride for free, too. Just select an additional passenger in the app or let our dispatchers know.

How often can I ride with IRIDE?
There is no limit to the number of rides you can book on IRIDE. Some seniors ride with us every day.

Can I book a recurring ride?
Yes. Call our dispatchers at 757-461-9481 if you would like to set up a recurring ride schedule.

What if I have trouble with the IRIDE app?
If the app isn’t working for you, call us and we’ll book your ride over the phone: 757-461-9481.
