Joice Whitehorn, assistant director of Suffolk Social Services, has been elected board president of Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (April 22, 2014) – Joice Whitehorn, assistant director of Suffolk Social Services, has been elected board president of Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, the regional not-for-profit organization that helps seniors and adults with disabilities live with choice and dignity in their communities.

(April 22, 2014) – Joice Whitehorn, assistant director of Suffolk Social Services, has been elected board president of Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, the regional not-for-profit organization that helps seniors and adults with disabilities live with choice and dignity in their communities.                                                          

“These are challenging times for nonprofits, but Senior Services continues to be a vital and vigorous organization,” Whitehorn said. “Wherever there’s a need – transportation, meals, Medicare counseling, training activities, advocacy, ombudsman services, companion care, Senior Services is there helping to address it in some way. I’m proud to be associated with this agency.”

Also elected were Vanessa T. Greene, first vice president, Fifth Judicial District community corrections program coordinator, representing Southampton County; Mike Aschkenas, second vice president, a community volunteer of Virginia Beach; Ashley Brooks, secretary, an attorney with Jones, Jones & Jones PLC, of Chesapeake; and Lynn E. Powell, treasurer, City President of SunTrust Bank, Suffolk, representing Franklin.
