Hampton Roads, Va. – (Oct. 23, 2012) – This year’s open enrollment period for Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage is Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. A “New to Medicare” informational presentation will be in Norfolk on November 16 to assist newly eligible beneficiaries as they navigate Medicare and Medicare Part D. Also, assistance will be available for those who are currently enrolled and want a different plan or for individuals who are eligible for the Part D Low-Income Subsidy/”Extra Help” benefit. On January 1, 2011 the first “Baby Boomers” (individuals born between 1946 and 1964) became eligible to receive Medicare benefits for the first time. “Boomers” need to know what impact Medicare has on their existing health care plans and options if they continue to work.
