 John N. Skirven awarded 2013 Excellence in Nonprofit Leadership Prize at Volunteer Hampton Roads Leadership Conference
Skirven honored at the Feb. 8 event

Norfolk, Va. – (Feb. 13, 2013) – John N. Skirven, who has served as the CEO of Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia for over 22 years, was honored for Excellence in Nonprofit Leadership Prize at Volunteer Hampton Roads’ annual Nonprofit Leadership Conference held Friday, Feb. 8 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriot.

Skirven has joined a distinguished club of past winners such as, Paul Atkinson of Eggleston Services; Ed Welp of The UP Center; Thaler McCormick of ForKids, Inc.; Thomas Swanston of Chesapeake Services Systems; Page Hayhurst of Virginia Living Museum; and Joanne E. Batson of the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.

MORE: The Ted Clarkson Fund of Hampton Roads Community Foundation and its donors recognize a nonprofit chief executive each year at the conference with the Excellence in Nonprofit Leadership Prize. Ted Clarkson is the former Executive Director of Virginia Beach Foundation. A panel of judges evaluates nominees based on their performance in the areas of fiscal management, organizational and board development, communication, personnel and volunteer development, and planning.
