Agency Participates in 2018 Subaru Share the Love Event

WHAT:

In celebration of the 2018 Subaru Share the Love Event, Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia will be wrapping gifts and providing hot chocolate and cider to customers at the Virginia Beach Antique Mall. In exchange, the agency will be accepting donations and sharing information about the 2018 Subaru Share the Love Event that supports nonprofit organizations such as Senior Services, the impact of Meals on Wheels, Senior Services, and the agency’s partnership with the Antique Mall. Donations will support Senior Service’s mission.

Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia is the regional not-for-profit organization that helps seniors and adults with disabilities live with choice and dignity in their communities. Its headquarters and satellite offices assist citizens in the cities of Chesapeake, Franklin, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Virginia Beach, and in Isle of Wight and Southampton counties. Programs and services include case management, in-home care, Meals on Wheels, and meals at senior center wellness and nutrition sites, Care Transitions, wellness classes, I-Ride transportation, Medicare benefits counseling, and more. In 2017, more than 11,057 people throughout the Southeastern Virginia region were served.

And since last January, the Virginia Beach Antique Mall has partnered with Senior Services in giving back to our senior community. The large space is full of antique, nostalgic, and collectible treasures touted by different vendors. The proceeds from items collected the vendors that are sold from one space allocated in the mall go directly toward Senior Services. Senior Services is grateful for this partnership.

WHY:

In addition to celebrating our relationship with the antique mall, this holiday gift-wrapping event is a part of Senior Services’ Subaru Share the Love Event campaign. During the nationwide campaign, as part of a national partnership with Meals on Wheels America, Subaru of America will donate $250 to the purchaser’s choice of participating charities – one of which is Meals on Wheels – for every new vehicle sold or leased from November 15, 2018, through January 2, 2019. Since the Share the Love Event began in 2008, Subaru and its participating retailers have donated nearly 2 million meals, safety checks and friendly visits to seniors being served by local Meals on Wheels programs across the country.
