SUFFOLK, Va. (April 4, 2014) – The Western Tidewater Healthy Aging Forum, a free community event sponsored by Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia and the Suffolk Department of Social Services, will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Suffolk Health and Human Services Building,135 Hall Ave., Suffolk. The forum will cover topics such as lifelong learning, fitness and Medicare. There also will be health screenings, Medicare counseling and a continental breakfast – all for free. Themes and speakers will include “Reinventing Retirement” with Paul Conco, president of Paul D. Camp Community College; “New to Medicare? What You Need to Know” with Rhys Jones, strategic policy lead – government programs for Humana. Also featured will be “Keeping Engaged” with retired Army Lt. Col. Lula Holland, former assistant social services director for Suffolk; and Andy Damiani, former mayor of Suffolk.
