Senior Services has lots of volunteer opportunities available. If you think you might have an interest, we invite you to please take a look at our Volunteer page at www.ssseva.org and then apply online.
Once we receive your application, our Volunteer Engagement Specialist, Kelley Russo, will contact you to schedule an interview. During the interview, you’ll be asked to talk about your skills and interest, and how they might transfer to one or more of our volunteer opportunities. Then we’ll do some paperwork, to include a background check which is required of all of our volunteers.
After the interview, all of the paperwork will be processed. Once that is complete and we receive back the results, we will contact you to schedule your volunteer orientation, where you will learn more in-depth information about the organization and all of our volunteer opportunities.
Once you make the decision on just what area of volunteerism best fits your schedule, interests, and abilities you will be scheduled to attend a specific training for that program. Upon successful completion, you’ll be ready to go!
Volunteers are a big reason why we are able to provide so much in the way of service to the seniors in the South Hampton Roads and Western Tidewater region. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia is pleased to be certified by Points of Light as a Service Enterprise. A Service Enterprise is an organization that fundamentally leverages volunteers and their skills throughout their organization to successfully deliver on its social mission. Founded by former President George H. W. Bush, Points of Light is the world's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. Less than 15 percent of organizations nationwide can be characterized as a Service Enterprise. By achieving this level of excellence and certification, Senior Services is better equipped to leverage the time and talent of volunteers and better meet our mission.
