Prescription Drug Assistance

We can help you find the best discount drug programs available - and enroll you for the benefits the same day! Your choices include:

  • Medicare Part D is beginning to allow sign up for drug cards on November 15, 2005. The best way to sign up is by comparing the coverage and cost of your current supplemental insurance with that offered in Part D. If you do not have prescription coverage in addition to Medicare now, you will need to choose a drug card plan. If you have a limited income you may quality for "extra help" that will pay some or all of your monthly premiums for Part D and offer other advantages.

  • There are several ways to make your decision: Use the internet and go to www.Medicare.gov or call 1-800 Medicare. Each of these systems has been "gearing up" to meet the demand of enrollees after November 15, 2005.
You can call Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, 461.9481 and ask for ext. 512. We may have to call you back, but leave a message and a staff member or one of our trained Medicare volunteers will call you back as soon as possible.

  • The Pharmacy Connection - Administered by Senior Services, this program helps qualified people receive free medicines from participating pharmaceutical companies. The same staff members can help you know how to get drug company discount cards that may help you save money. Prescription drug assistance through The Pharmacy Connection is available to all ages, but our priority is on residents 50 years and older.

Our Insurance Counselors will screen you for all of these options when you call. In some cases, beneficiaries may be able to use a combination of the drug cards benefit and the Pharmacy Connection program.

No fee: This is a free service.
