2015 Farmer's Market Nutrition Program


Virginia’s Farm Market Fresh for Seniors Program provides $40 worth of free “checks” to help eligible senior citizens buy fresh, nutritious, locally grown produce, and supports local farmers and farmers’ markets.


Applications accepted at these locations for Chesapeake, Franklin, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Suffolk.


Applications accepted at this location for Virginia Beach.

The As You Wish ADVANCE CARE PLANNING program is available to you, at no cost, with helpful guidance in your understanding and completion of an Advance Directive for Health Care. It’s important. It’s personal. You can do it. We can help.

Educational Programs

Senior Services offers the following programs designed to help adults 55+ manage the symptoms of chronic disease and help with balance to prevent falls. These programs are open to the public. Diabetes Self Management Leader Training

Senior Services is holding a training event for healthcare professionals or others who regularly interact with people dealing with the associated effects of Diabetes.


Two 2-day training sessions will take place at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk. The first session takes place August 13 and 14. The second session will take place August 20 & 21. You must attend all four days to become a certified DSMP leader.

Chronic Disease Self Management Leader Training

This program is ideal for the healthcare professionals or any individual who regularly interacts with people who are dealing with aging or chronic pain associated with disease.


Chronic Disease Self Management Program

Helps participants live healthier and more independently by small group discussion, problem solving, and setting small goals. CDSMP helps you make lifestyle modifications and not allowing your chronic condition to rule your life.

Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.
